And the book escapades continues.

Friday, May 9, 2014 @ 11:05 PM | 0 Comment [s]

I`m not really sorry that (or maybe a little) that I haven`t been posted anything in this blog for over a year now. I`ve been focusing more on my Tumblr book blog and been posting there ever since. But that doesn`t mean I stopped on my book escapades. They only went...better over time.

Catching up on the post before this, I`ll give a recap of what happened after Ransereh (I call them Ransereh now because why not? And back then I knew there was something more special between them heh) visited Philippines last year. Just photos and some captions.

Book signing event: Tahereh Mafi && Ransom Riggs!

Thursday, April 4, 2013 @ 1:26 PM | 0 Comment [s]

This post is also the one posted in my book blog in tumblr, thisisnotyourbookblog. (And I`ll post my book reviews there too. I will make this blogger my personal again because I don`t know lol I just want to.)

Meeting the woman who wanted to write about a girl with magical eyelashes and the man who wanted to have the ability to take pictures with a blink of his eyes last March 2 & 3, 2013~

“Hi, Eriele the mermaid!”

I`m sorry for the haggardness in the photos. The signings happened a dayafter prom, and I hadn`t had enough sleep…and my eyebrows look weird because prom.
There are two things you kind of need to remember:
  1. Two signings. The first day was with Tahereh Mafi at National Bookstore in Glorietta.
  2. Ransom Riggs in Fullybooked at Bonifacio High Street in the Fort.
There. On my way to prom, my friend Erycka sent me a text saying I won and I was number 4 in line on Miss Peregrine`s. Of course, I fangirl-ed for a while because there was my luck coming back again on giveaways and stuff and because NUMBER 4!!!!!! LIKE, I`M ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE RANSOM WILL TALK (besides the Q&A)
March 2, 2013.
I thought nobody would go with me, since Glorietta was far and everybody was tired after prom. But wow Lianne (And Gelo too) went with me! I was really…touched because she went with me even if she had actually nothing to do with the signing. (Actually, she had, but that`s sort of another story.)
Anyway, yeah. We got there at 1 PM and since the registration will start at 3, we had lunch first. But omg when we came back, there were a lot of people already! I thought I wouldnt even get to reach the cut-off. But fortunately, I got in. I was number 104.  Blah blah, I`ll post some of the videos I`ve took during the Q&A soon.
I actually thought Ransom was like Tahereh`s boyfriend or something, because he was freaking tall (and so is Tahereh, and I love her shoes and really gorgeous eyelashes you can see from afar! Or okay, their shoes. And Ransom`s socks.) and he kept taking pictures of her. I like their accent. When these two are combined, it`s a team of funny and sarcastic mouths. I was surprised when it was Ransom Riggs, like, author of the (at first) creepy Miss Peregrine`s Home for Peculiar Children! I was all like, “Damn I should have brought my book with me!” But it wasn`t that I realized I was going to his signing the next day that I finally calmed down. Tahereh would do for that day.
Yada yada yada, I waited until 100-120 were called. All of the people in line with books were given a piece of paper with our names so the authors could write our names right and faster. I had my name there, and I wrote some questions on the paper in case I forgot and I usually stutter speaking in English. My questions were:
  • Do you fangirl?
  • Would you mind if I base a character on you or your characters?
  • Any tips of  killing writer`s block?
Tahereh answered them all.
  • Yes. A lot! Do you?
  • No, I would not mind if you base a character on me or my characters.
  • Just write. Keep on writing~. Don`t stop.
  • I like your earrings!
The last one wasn`t really an answer, but yeah, I guess she noticed my huge white ribbon earrings. Glad she liked it.
aND AHHHH *FLAILS* I ASKED A FAVOR IF SHE COULD DO A POSE FOR ME AND SHE SAID “Sure! I love poses!” So yeah, I did the “jeje” pose and she did too! (Ransom didn`t join us though. I thought, “He thinks he escaped? Ha! No, I`m going to see him tomorrow!)
Yes so after it, I was really hyped and happy just like after you meet someone popular and that you`ve waited for so long to meet that someone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 3, 2013~
This journey was truly a day to remember. Lianne and I are having serious fun and it`s like a 2-day getaway.
Yada yada, we arrived there like just on time, when all seats were occupied (because we almost got lost on our way) But no worries! Remember that I`m number 4 and ohmygod yes there was a free book! They asked if I already got my book and was like, um no, and yaaaaay they gave me one. So stay tuned, because pretty soon I`ll giveaway books.
Side note: I met my…hmm…roleplayer partner? there! She`s the one who texted me that I won. Erycka. (Hi, gurl~. Sorry for being awkward and just stared and then laughed the moment I saw you. AND I STILL HATE YOU FOR BEING TALLER THAN ME WHEN I AM LIKE 2 OR 3 YEARS OLDER.)
So, we went around the store for a while because it has 4 floors. And while omg going to the escalator going to the third floor, RANSOM. WAS. THERE. He was talking to someone (the host of the event, as I later learned) and I stopped in my tracks and he did too. I was like, “Wait, ohmygod I know this man…OHMYGOD IT`S RANSOM.” (and while I`m typing this the feeeeeels are coming back~) I wasn`t thinking straight and I just smiled and said, “Hi,” and he said, “Hi!” HIS EYES WERE A GOOD SHADE OF BLUE I CAN`T— DRGHDRKJBHDKRTH
As I said, all seats were taken. There was some space left though on the left side, so I requested for at least 3 seats for us. I said I was fine if we can sit on the floor since that`s what I did a day before.  But they still gave us seats, and I was…I don`t know, I really appreciate them.
Anyway, yeah, the signing started late and blah blah Erycka and I talked some random stuffs until they came. I was OHMYGOD SO CLOSE TO HIM AND CLOSER LATER OHMYGOD. I`ll upload the video of him reading aloud soon (that was cut off because ugh someone texted me).
I think I was like, the second one to get signed because I don`t know, or maybe I just didn`t notice because I was fangirling hard and trying to breathe evenly. When my turn came, O. M. G. (not really exact conversation but this is what I remember)
Me: Hi.
Ransom: Hey.
Me: I was the one who stared at you… *gestures up like the second floor lol*
Ransom: *tries to remember it* Oh.
Me: *awkwardly laughs and tries not to scream in happiness*
Ransom: Eriele. I like your name.
Me: Thanks. I was named after the mermaid. Little Mermaid.
Ransom: Oh, Hans Christian Andersen.
Me: Yeah, but on the movie. I`m just wishing that I don`t get the same ending as the original.
Ransom: Yeah. It`s sad. No one likes a sad ending.
Me: *nods while trying to suppress a smile*
And when we were about to take a picture,
Me: Hey. Could you do a pose for me too? I was the one yesterday who asked Tahereh to do the “jeje” pose.
Ransom: Sure. What do you call it again?
Me: Jeje pose. *does the pose*
Ransom: *says something that sounds like “jeje” but says it wrong because okay I don`t speak clearly and does the pose anyway*
Me: Could you stand because I want everyone to know how tall you are? ((THIS IS THE PART WHERE I TELL YOU GUYS THAT I WORE MY FIVE-INCH WEDGE FOR HIM SO I WON`T LOOK TINY BESIDE HIM AND THAT GAVE ME A HARD TIME WALKING THROUGH BHS))
Ransom: Sure. *stands but lol bends down a little as you could see in the photo abooooove~*
*after the picture*
Me: Thank you so muuuuch.
Ransom: No problem.
Me: Thank you thank you. Really. Bye~
Ransom: Bye~ *pats my right shoulder omg*
AND AHHH I WAS SHAKING FROM THE FEELS AND HAPPINESS AFTER IT.  I was really inspired to make a book blog and stuff and continue writing even if I`m going to take a course not related to writing.
You bet it was an amazing weekend. Prom on Friday, Tahereh Mafi (and sort of Ransom too) on Saturday, and Ransom Riggs on Sunday!
P.S. Massive thanks to Lianne. I still owe you a lot for this!
33rd Manila International Book Fair.
Sunday, December 30, 2012 @ 4:20 PM | 0 Comment [s]
Sorry to keep you waiting! I know I only have a few readers, and I really appreciate you guys. I was busy and was grounded oops.
So, to start off this post, I just want to tell you that this is my first time attending the fair. I`ve been dreaming to go and witness one of the major events for booklovers for almost two years now, and finally, my dream came true! All my energy spent on bugging my parents since I`ve known it would happen (I didn`t know why I didn`t know when the book fair would be). Last year, they promised me that we would go this year, and yep, I`ve held on to their words!
I went on a Saturday, September 15, and was awed by the time before I even got inside the venue. As my dad was searching for a parking space, I kept on looking and looking on the SMX Convention Center. I was really excited, and I couldn`t imagine what fantasy I would see with my own eyes!
(If you`ve read my last post, entitled Breaking News, I`ve won free tickets to the book fair, but I hadn`t had the chance to claim it because it was too far and there was no time.)
Your entrance fee would be worth it. I`m serious.
20 php for adults, and if you have a student ID, it`s only 15 php! I did bring my ID, so I had a 5 peso discount. ((But you could ask for free tickets from the bookstore branches, I think))  The tickets/bookmarks below are from Fully Booked I got for free when I got inside the venue (it`s okay, I love bookmarks.)
I couldn`t believe my own eyes upon entering the place. It was marvelous! There were a lot of stalls inside, and there was even an event happening. It was amazing how big the SMX could be. I mean, on the second or third floor I think, there was also cosplay event or something.
 Let me tell you what adventure I took before I found this Demigod Diaries book. Inside the fair, I didn`t find it anywhere because it was always out of stock. I really wanted it since my birthday because I love the Percy Jackson series. (Yeah, I even roleplay on tumblr about PJO) I had to look for outside the fair (since it`s just like the same with the discount and all) I looked everywhere. Fully Booked, Power Books, and I only found it in National Bookstore branch. But it was worth it, you know? The pleasure you get when you have your hands on the book you want.
And my outfit for the day~
I`m sorry if this post sucks big time. I had it in my drafts for so long I forgot everything I was supposed to say. :(
Special Post for the Anonymous.
Saturday, December 29, 2012 @ 2:56 PM | 1 Comment [s]
I`m making this post for the anonymous who left a name but no site or something to contact her.
Yeah, I could agree that I don`t really see much of Gregor the Overlander. I think I`ve seen a few in Fullybooked, but I always see some in Booksale.
Don`t be shy to leave your email or something, okay? I`ll have to approve the comment before it shows up, so your comment won`t necessarily be published. You could even leave your number or any of your account so we could talk. :) I may not always post here, but I always check my accounts.
But if you`re still having doubts, send me a message on my tumblr, even if it`s anonymous. I`ll publish it. Though sometimes, you have to send it twice because asks aren`t that reliable. Fanmail and submissions are highly recommended.
Yes, I know some of you are waiting for my post about the MIBF, but I`m already working on it! It`s in my drafts but my brain is still kind of tired to think of good words because I`ve just taken exams this morning.
I`m making this post up because I don`t have a reply button in my comments section, which leads to double questions and everything. Sorry for those I haven`t replied yet! If you have questions that were not included in this post, kindly contact me through my other accounts in other sites. But here, I`ll answer questions I always get. Yep, I don`t forget the awards and everything. :)
How old were you when you started reading or loving books?
I don`t really know. When I was younger, I used to look at picture books and pretend I`m really reading them because turning pages was quite addictive for me, especially when the smooth sheet makes this soft sound when being turned. I have actually wanted to be a bookworm since I was, say, 5, but then I was a kid and found prices really expensive and so I had to feed myself with children`s almanac and everything. But when I started high school--BAM! My school has this library, and it was the first step to my land of dreams.
Do you own an e-book reader?
Certainly not. I don`t really support ebooks, unless when there is no other means of reading. I will always love and read the printed word.
How many books do you have?
Honestly, I lost count of my books. Last January, if I remember right, I had more than a hundred books. But now, though, I don`t know because I keep on buying books and giving the others away for birthday gifts.
Do you sell your books?
Maybe, if it`s fine with me.
Book swap?
It really depends on what book I would like and you would like.
Where do you buy your books?
I buy books on different stores. National Bookstore, Fullybooked, Powerbooks, and Booksale. Or in Multiply, but pretty soon the site would be closed, I think. I always buy on Booksale and in online shops because it`s cheaper, but I grab a lot when it`s on sale in Fullybooked and NBS, like during the Manila International Book Fair.
Actually, the secret on finding a good book in Booksale is patience. You just need to dig more in those piles, and you might just find a book you`ve been trying to find for years...
What`s your secret in winning giveaways?
Just join and join, and don`t expect unless you want it badly. But really, just join and just wait for the notification in your mail.
Blog theme?
You`ll probably get the link in the Credits corner, which is located below the Extras To Watch Out.
How can I contact you or something in another sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc.?
Facebook, nope...
Twitter
Tumblr
Instagram: Sinworth
Book recommendations?
Give me what genre you like and I`ll suggest you something...Just fiction, though.
Where did you buy your Vongola rings in your old post?
Ah, that? In Divisoria, actually. It costed me less than 500. PM me so I could tell you exactly where I bought it, not comment, okay?
More questions unanswered? Just comment or get in touch in another sites. ;)
Breaking News.
Sunday, September 16, 2012 @ 5:24 PM | 0 Comment [s]
What`s up? Long time no post and news, eh?
Sorry. Haven`t been able to post, but I`m always online on different social networking sites.
I`ll keep this post as short and fast as I can.
1. Yep, I did have a blasting birthday. Thank you to everyone who greeted me and helped for the gift Sherina did for me. She really put in a lot of effort for these pictures and pasted a friend`s letter at the back. Just look at that. I`ve counted the pictures and it was more than a hundred! Love ya. xx
2. Thank you for those who joined the giveaway. You were all great and better luck next time. I`m very thankful to Lucy of Fullybooked too for helping me to promote the giveaway in twitter.
I had only announce the winner in twitter, so in case you don`t know yet and haven`t seen the rafflecopter too, the winner is
She said she likes YA or dystopia, and I`m still deciding what to give her. Haven`t sent the books yet but we would soon!
3. Also, I`ve got my Alliance Forged and Charlinder`s Walk book too. (Sorry, I`m too lazy to upload everything so I`m just copy-pasting my posts on instagram) Massive thanks to Alyson Miers for the note she included! I really love autographed copies now. Drooling for them.
And massive thanks to Kylie Griffins. She had generously sent a separate envelope (because she sent the book through the Book Depository) that included the swag and autograph and everything wonderful.
4.  I was reading Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, and updated my status in goodreads (it`s also posted in twitter), when they tweeted me! And followed! MY FEELINGS ALL OVER THE PLACE THOUGH.
5. Then I`ve got more books that arrived in the mail! Though you could say that only one pouch is mine because it includes my friends` books too that we ordered online. But in the photo below, books that are mine are those who separated from the group. And omg! That Sherlock Holmes book is wonderful! So vintage and loving it `til the end of time.
6. I don`t think I haven`t told you this before, but YUZZZZZZZ I`m the English Booklovers Club Chairman! In return, I get to make the bulletin. -______- But it`s all worth it because I love passing by the bulletins and seeing the quotes from the book I did! The quotes and lines were mostly from The Fault in Our Stars. And the next photo with Uncle Sam pointing at you, it`s for the English campaign to motivate students to speak English in school... It was only effective for a few days though...
7. The last but would never be the least that I know of, the magnificent 33rd Manila International Book Fair!
I`ve won free tickets for the fair, but I unfortunately didn`t claim it because the pickup place is too far and would take so much time. This is the land of my berry sweet dreams, and I`ve been meaning to go here since forever *coughs* I mean two years ago. My parents promised me last year that we would go this year, and it`s successful! Blog post about this shall be up soon!
